Coffee goes far beyond the traditional cup. With a little creativity and the right ingredients, it is possible to transform specialty coffee into delicious recipes that energize your day in a completely different way.
In partnership with the nutrition laboratory at Cruzeiro do Sul University, we developed two easy and tasty recipes that use specialty coffee prepared in a Moka pot. Check them out!
Coffee Brigadeiro
The brigadeiro is one of Brazil’s most beloved sweets, and when combined with specialty coffee, it becomes an irresistible treat.
Ingredients:
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 1 tablespoon of butter
- 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of brewed specialty coffee (strong, prepared in a Moka pot)
- Chocolate sprinkles for coating
Instructions:
- In a non-stick pan over medium heat, combine the condensed milk, butter, and cocoa powder
- Stir constantly until the mixture begins to pull away from the bottom of the pan
- Add the brewed coffee and mix well
- Let it cool, then shape into balls
- Roll in chocolate sprinkles and place in paper cups
Tropical Iced Americano
A refreshing drink that combines the intensity of specialty coffee with tropical fruit flavors — perfect for hot days.
Ingredients:
- 200ml of brewed specialty coffee (prepared in a Moka pot, then cooled)
- 100ml of cold water
- Tropical fruit of your choice (passion fruit, mango, or pineapple)
- Ice cubes
- Honey or sugar to taste (optional)
Instructions:
- Prepare the coffee in a Moka pot and let it cool completely
- Blend the tropical fruit with the cold water
- In a tall glass, add ice cubes
- Pour the fruit mixture
- Slowly add the cooled coffee
- Sweeten to taste if desired
